[00:00:01] Speaker A: I am talking to the Julian cross, American Idol 2024, all the way to Hollywood. Julian Cross, how are you, my dear?
[00:00:12] Speaker B: I am well. Thank you so, so much for having me on the show.
[00:00:16] Speaker A: I'm so excited because I watched that Hollywood journey that you took to American Idol. What was that like for you?
[00:00:23] Speaker B: You know, it was a great experience to be able to meet so many different people who come from different backgrounds, but all there for one common goal in mind, to be the next American Idol. Of course, there can only be one. Unfortunately, that wasn't me. But I met so many great people there for so many great friendships, relationships, and I don't discount my experience being on the show.
[00:00:51] Speaker A: Yeah, but you made it all the way to Hollywood, which is a huge achievement. So congratulations for that.
And you also have a new project and a new song that's out right now. Now, we're gonna talk about that in just a second, But I gotta talk about this tribute to Jaquailyn Carr that you did. It was at the Stellars, and my goodness, sir, that just blew me away.
[00:01:18] Speaker B: Thank you. Thank you. You know, it's not easy, especially me being a male artist, tributing Jaelyn Carr, who has this fantastic range that's out of this world, but the opportunity to do so.
I'm so grateful that I was able to tribute her. And she is from my hometown, which is Memphis.
She's from west Memphis, but we claim her. She's Memphis.
[00:01:46] Speaker A: She's Memphis. Absolutely.
As you should. As you should. You have a brand new song out. It is called I'm Free, and people can get it anywhere. Tell me about the song.
[00:01:58] Speaker B: So I'm Free is that song that you can just play in the car and you can groove down the road. But really, aside from the infectious lyrics and music and rhythm, it's the message behind the song that really resonates with me.
The message is that God has already set us free from the things that try to hold us down, Whether it's depression, whether it's anxiety. God set us free from all of that when he died on a hill called Calvary Just for you and me. So. So I'm super excited that I get to minister this song throughout the world.
[00:02:35] Speaker A: I was lost free that is, I'm free from the Julian cross. And this is powerful. And here's where I say I hear the Memphis sound that stacks that certain sound that comes from Memphis, but it has a different message. Because of your gospel roots?
[00:02:56] Speaker B: Absolutely. You know, I often tell tell people, give people a background about me. My grandmother was a Stax recording artist. So that soul is all up in my family and the roots for me. So I often try to translate that over into my music ministry and the gospel music.
[00:03:14] Speaker A: Absolutely.
[00:03:15] Speaker B: So this song embodies all of that and I'm so excited. It's beautiful everyone to just enjoy this song.
[00:03:23] Speaker A: Absolutely. And they will be. Definitely will be. So listen, how do we follow you on social media and how do we get this song? I'm gonna follow you as you're telling me.
