[00:00:00] Speaker A: I am on the phone with the incredible Jacalyn Carr. How are you?
[00:00:06] Speaker B: I'm good. How are you?
[00:00:08] Speaker A: I'm fantastic. It's been a while since we've spoken, but I cannot believe that it's only been 10 years. You have packed a lot into your profession in 10 years.
[00:00:20] Speaker B: Yes. God is so faithful. And it seems so surreal. Yeah, I just. It seemed like yesterday when I was just releasing Greater Is Coming and now we're here.
[00:00:30] Speaker A: And I remember when you and your dad came to the studio and you were all shy and what has happened here.
[00:00:41] Speaker B: I know, right?
[00:00:43] Speaker A: I'm so happy for you. You have so much going on, including acting and awarded songs and your beauty brand. We got so much.
And one of the things that I wanted to talk about is you being the first gospel artist to be inducted into the Women Songwriters hall of Fame in Washington, dc.
What did that feel like? Wow.
[00:01:08] Speaker B: It just feels. Oh, my gosh. It feels like, you know, mission accomplished every day or is being accomplished every day.
Because, you know, you don't just get inducted.
That means that, you know, what you do have had some sort of impact on people in a major way. And so, you know, it just felt so.
Just amazing to know that people are being blessed. I remember telling God all I wanted to do was to inspire people and to give them hope through my music. And I was a little girl when I said that. And to see that people are, you know, reaching out every day and expressing that and being inducted, it was just. It was just amazing.
[00:01:49] Speaker A: When I look at that and, you know, as young as you are, and then being gospel in it just took a life of its own, in my opinion. You know, just amazing.
[00:01:59] Speaker B: Thank you. Thank you so much.
[00:02:01] Speaker A: Well, you have a new project and we gotta talk about this because, first of all, don't Faint is just an anthem for me right now.
[00:02:13] Speaker B: Oh, thank you.
[00:02:14] Speaker A: But included in that is from your new project, Jacqueline with the Legends. And when we're saying the Legends, we're talking about Dr. Bobby Jones. You have Don't Faint with John P. Kee. Come on, you are with Lisa Paige Brooks, Karen Clark, Sheard Dorinda Clarke Cole. We got some Detroit Legends in there. Also Bebe Winans and a lot more. This album is out right now. And how excited are you?
[00:02:49] Speaker B: I'm very excited. You know, my dad came to me with the Vision about a year and some change ago. And anyone who knows me knows that I love the Legends. Every interview, yeah, they ask me who's my favorite is always the Legends. And so, you know, it was just a pleasure of mine to do this album honoring these people who have been the forerunners, these people who, you know, have made so much history. And not just made history, but they're still doing amazing things in gospel, showing us what longevity looks like. You know, to have Karen Clark Shear, to have Pastor Shirley, BB Winers, Yolanda, all them on this album is just amazing. And I just believe that what you honor will honor you as well, for sure.
[00:03:33] Speaker A: I remember when you did a birthday photo shoot with some of the people in your orbit, and you honored them by replicating some of their album covers, and that was powerful. But now you got the voices on there.
[00:03:48] Speaker B: Yes, yes. And I didn't even know that I will be, you know, there will be an album soon to come with that, you know, and it's just beautiful. Every studio experience with each and every one of them was just beautiful. It was amazing. You know how they just. We. First of all, they just sung every song like it was the. Like it was. Yeah, yeah.
You know what I'm. What I'm talking about.
And then just, you know, just being in their presence and like I said, that grace, the longevity is just beautiful.
[00:04:22] Speaker A: Well, your number one hit, Don't Faint. You have this on this album featuring John P. Key. We're going to play it in a second, but tell me about it.
[00:04:32] Speaker B: Yes. Adult Faint made my 10th number one radio single this year. And this song right here, God spoke to me before the year came in. He said so many people, they had been hearing, you know, God is going to do this. You've been getting confirmation after confirmation. But God told me to decree going into 2025, that this would not just be your year for confirmations. This is going to be your year to see. See it become your reality. And that's the reason why you cannot think, because you know how it is. You hearing something all the time and you ain't seeing. And you like, wait a minute now. Yeah, it's not for me or it's gonna happen. But the devil is a liar. This is a reminder to you that anything that comes out of the mouth of God is guaranteed. He said what he said, and he's going to bring it to pass. He. Sometimes it's not you that's not ready. Sometimes God has to prepare the people. He has to prepare the place for you. And that's why you cannot F.
[00:05:31] Speaker A: On the phone with Jakaylynn Carr Don't Faint Featuring what? John P. Key.
What was that like?
[00:05:42] Speaker B: It was amazing. That's Uncle John There.
And I just love being able to collab with him. It's been something that I've wanted to do for a while. And when I was listening to the song and I'm like, I think I want to do another version of it, but with a different V.
And Pastor John, he came on in, he did his thing. So it was beautiful.
[00:06:07] Speaker A: Absolutely beautiful. We're on the phone with Jakaylyn Carr, and when we come back, we're gonna play another song that features some heavy hitters, so make sure you keep it right here.
On the phone with a Jakayla Carr takeover. And today is the day, y'. All. She has her brand new album that is out. Tell everybody about it.
[00:06:30] Speaker B: Yes, ma'. Am. I'm so exc.
This is my album. Jacqueline the Legends. Being able to be on the phone with you is just making my day.
[00:06:41] Speaker A: I absolutely love it. I just do. Because I've been watching you since you were preteen. Really, you were a tween. And then I saw you preaching, answering, and I'm like, wait, yes.
[00:06:53] Speaker B: Yes, ma'. Am.
[00:06:55] Speaker A: Absolutely love it. I love this background with all of the legends that you sang with. But one of the songs I just heard, and I want everybody to hear too. Today is the history breakthrough. And this features. Come on. Shirley caesar, Harvey Watkins Jr. And Karen Clark shared.
[00:07:16] Speaker B: Yes, ma'. Am.
Loaded, loaded, loaded. These people sung like it wasn't no tomorrow. And it's just literally a song. First of all, the song system. So. Well, cause I'm one. I don't just be, you know, putting people on song. Like, I literally study my songs and hear who I hear on it. And they were the perfect fit. And it's the messages all of us have our personal testimonies of history that we have with Jesus and things that we've seen him perform before. And that intensifies our faith to know that God is still doing wonders. He's still doing amazing things. So I feel breakthrough. Every time I get discouraged, I just think about what he already did, and it pushes me into my breakthrough.
[00:08:05] Speaker A: It is Jakaylyn Carr, and my goodness, I have loved talking to you today. Thank you for the takeover.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: You are welcome.
[00:08:14] Speaker A: I can't wait for everybody to get ahold of this entire project again. It is Jakalyn Carr with the Legends, Absolute legends. And they can pick it up right now. Yes.

[00:08:37] Speaker A: Absolutely every. I would love to have that on wax because it just. Just to be able to read the notes and all that kind of stuff. I think that would be awesome.
[00:08:46] Speaker B: Thank you.
