[00:00:00] Speaker A: I am on the phone with Crystal Akin. How are you, my dear?
[00:00:05] Speaker B: I'm great, Randy. How are you? Hey, everybody.
[00:00:09] Speaker A: She's talking to all of Detroit and beyond.
And first of all, we gonna go way back to Sunday best.
You were the very first winner of Sunday Best. Am I right about that?
[00:00:22] Speaker B: That is correct. In 2007 is when the show actually began. And, yeah, I was the first winner there.
[00:00:30] Speaker A: My goodness, that just gives me chills. And I wish we had that show.
[00:00:34] Speaker B: Back, but I'm sure a lot of people say that they miss it. I think people miss a lot of gospel networking as well. Just television, the music, Bobby Jones, you know, we're missing a lot of that where we get represented on television.
[00:00:46] Speaker A: Absolutely. And it should still be that way. Well, despite that, you've had so many great hits. You've had just a lot of stuff going on. You have been acting, you have been speaking.
And I told you off the air that I sing. He can handle it in my spirit so much.
[00:01:06] Speaker B: Because he can. I know he can, and I know he will.
[00:01:09] Speaker A: Come on. Come on.
That song was number one for, you know, a few weeks. And I played it a lot.
It's not an oldie to me. I just think that it's a testament to the things that people go through. And if you could sing that, you just know that.
[00:01:25] Speaker B: Absolutely. I think it's a declaration for people's lives. Especially it was written during the pandemic, especially when people's faith was low and appeared as if evil or sickness was ruling and God wasn't healing. But we still know that he can, no matter what, and he still is a healer through it all. And so it's a reminder for people to be able to declare those words. I know he can. I know he will look back over your life, remember when he did, and be able to activate your faith to know that he will for the future.
[00:01:51] Speaker A: This is Crystal.
I'm on the phone with Crystal Akin. And, Crystal, you have a new song. It's called lord, I need your help. And what happened for you to have to write. Write a song like this? It's powerful.
[00:02:07] Speaker B: Yes. You know, my back was against the wall. I wrote this song. It came to me probably about 09, 2010.
I was driving down the street, although the words stay sitting in my room. But the truth is, I was. I. I remember a moment where my back was just against the wall. I was seeking God's clarity, but I was trying to find all these other ways to try to figure it out, do it myself, you know, and the Lord said, hey, hey, I'm here. I'm waiting to intervene. If you'll just call on me, I'll show up. And that's what I love about the last words. You know, the song is what, three minutes? But at the end of the song, that vamp says, I cried and called out Jesus, and he showed up. I tried him, and that's what he'll do. The Bible says this. If that he. He answers to the call and the cry of his. People are reminded of that when they call on the Lord and say, lord, I need your help. I don't need my mama's help, not my dad's, not my best friend's help. I need your help. And when we do that, the Lord is so honored to intervene into our lives.
[00:03:01] Speaker A: Well, let's hear it right now on the Detroit Praise Network. Lord, I need your help. It's Crystal Akin. Anybody ever.
[00:03:09] Speaker B: The Lord's help, Where my help comes from.
[00:03:11] Speaker A: Crystal Akins latest single is called lord, I need your help. And I will run through this studio, sister. I will run through this studio. This is powerful.
[00:03:22] Speaker B: It's powerful, but it's so fun, too. It's got that wonderful baseline. I love that. I love the lyrics. I hope that people are able to resonate with that, that it's their testimony as well, that they know they've cried on the Lord and he has shown up for them.
[00:03:37] Speaker A: It has some Motown flair to it too, girl.
[00:03:40] Speaker B: It really does get with it.
[00:03:45] Speaker A: You know, I know my Motown now, right?
Well, I love following you on social media, but how do they find this single and how do they find you as well?
[00:03:56] Speaker B: Absolutely. For any type of phone that you have, you know, we like to do this Android and Apple thing, but, you know, for any of your social media outlets where you get your music, it's there. And digital platforms, you can reach me at thereal. Crystal Akin on ig, Crystal Akin on Facebook. And that is a I K I N last name spelled like your back aching. Your heart's aching but with two eyes, no E, no T and no S. And I hope people will check it out. I hope people are blessed by it. Matter of fact, I hope people utilize it that they begin to cry out and say, lord, I need your help.
[00:04:29] Speaker A: Thank you so much for hanging out with me today. Has been a pleasure.
[00:04:33] Speaker B: Thanks, Randy. Love y'. All.
