[00:00:00] Speaker A: On the phone with me, I have Bishop Bruce Parham. He is pastor of Oasis of Delaware. He's also a gospel recording artist and author and a whole lot more. And he's a Philly native. I'm not gonna hold that against you, Bishop, but welcome to the Randy Miles Show.
[00:00:20] Speaker B: How are you, Randy? How are you?
[00:00:22] Speaker A: I am doing fantastic. And I was reading your bio, and a lot of people find out they're calling pretty early. But you were singing by the age of two.
[00:00:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:00:37] Speaker A: What was happening then?
[00:00:39] Speaker B: What was that like? Right, right. I mean, honestly, almost. Almost as soon as I started talking. Good. Yeah, I was singing. I was singing in front of people and congregations.
By the time I was six, I was doing conventions and. Wow. A lot of church, you know, things. And so, yeah, it's a blur. But, yeah, I was real young when I started.
[00:01:03] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. And. And you've gone into recording, and one of my favorite, the Gospel Music Workshop of America Youth Conference. GMWA Mass Choir. It goes on and on. And you do have a little bit of a Detroit connection.
[00:01:22] Speaker B: I do. I do.
Bishop Andrew Merritt.
I was there, able to do Cover Me.
That song was birthed right there at Straight Gate. And he's been a great inspiration to me. I've had the opportunity to minister there on some Sunday mornings.
Stephen Ford was, of course, my connection there, and just a great, great experience. Great experience.
[00:01:51] Speaker A: I absolutely love Bishop Merritt and his family. And that was, you know, the albums that we played when I worked at a different radio station. So I absolutely love that connection. But you're going to be here in Detroit for something totally different.
[00:02:08] Speaker B: Totally different. Yeah. I'm there for a play, a gospel play. I'm really excited.
It's been a while since I've done the stage play, but I'm excited about this. Vanessa has written an amazing, amazing play, Prince of the Pulpit. And I actually star as Bishop Baxter, who is a pastor that is about to retire.
[00:02:30] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:02:31] Speaker B: And, yeah, and he has a successor in mind.
Faithful, faithful minister.
But then there's another young man who was also a member of the church that it was prophesied to him that he would be a successor.
[00:02:45] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:02:46] Speaker B: And so, yeah, that's where the drama begins.
And people pick sides. And so it's riddled with a lot of faith, humor, family, you know, tragedy.
It's a whole lot of stuff. It's a whole lot of stuff in there, but it's a great, great, great opportunity. I'm on stage with Deida west, with Dennis White.
And Dennis. I met him when he was a little teenager. So he's like a nephew to me.
His mother and me are God brother and God sister. So it's just going to be great along with the local of the actors. And it's going to be amazing. I'm excited about it.
[00:03:25] Speaker A: It sounds like it. Vanessa Lynn's prince of the pulpit. I really love her work and what she's doing. And this is part of her Parables Entertainment 20th anniversary.
[00:03:38] Speaker B: Right.
[00:03:38] Speaker A: It's amazing in itself that she's been doing this for 20 years and is coming to the Detroit area.
Yeah. Yeah. I'm so happy and proud of her as well. So I'm going to tell everybody where it's going to and we have tickets on our website if people want to try and win them so that they can meet you as well and see you on stage.

[00:04:04] Speaker A: So it's going to be at the four Community and Performing Arts Center. It's on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn and it will be on Saturday, September 19th at 1:30 and 6:30 and then on Sunday at 3:30pm Did I get that right, Bishop?
[00:04:22] Speaker B: Yes, you did. That's right. That's correct.
[00:04:25] Speaker A: Well, I appreciate you stopping by the Randy Miles show and talking to me for a few minutes.
