[00:00:00] Speaker A: I cannot tell you how excited I am to talk to this man of God, Ricky Dillard. What is going on? [00:00:07] Speaker B: My love, My love. It's been a time that we've got a chance to speak with each other, but look at us today. How are you, Brandy? It's so good to be here with you. [00:00:17] Speaker A: I am so good, and I'm so glad to hear your voice on the telephone and I will see your face next week. And we're just really thrilled. When the organizers for DTE's Halloween Hallelujah for Heat asked me about having Ricky Dillard as the guest, I was like, there's no question. We have to have him. So I'm so excited. [00:00:42] Speaker B: Thank you all for recommending me, and I'm so thankful that we were able to work it out that we could come. We're excited about DTE's energy presenting us, and this Hallelujah for Heath event, it is going to be incredible. I already feel the energy already through this phone. [00:01:00] Speaker A: Oh, I know, I know. I love the event. And of course, it is in conjunction with thaw, which is the Heating and warmth fund. They keep families safe and warm, and they've been doing this since, like, 1985. Ricky. [00:01:15] Speaker B: Wow. Longevity. [00:01:17] Speaker A: Yes. I'm so excited. So tell me, what can we expect for Hallelujah for heat on the 24th? [00:01:24] Speaker B: Listen, that's what it's going to be. Hallelujah for Heat. It's going to be so hot out there. It's going to be blazing because the holy Ghost is going to meet us there. We're bringing him with us. We're coming with a power fact to encourage, to inspire, to uplift, to motivate, Tell folks to hold on. No matter what's going on in the world, get prepared to be in the presence of God to leave there not the way they came. So we gonna have church. We gonna sing all your favorite songs. We're just gonna have a good time and make sure that Detroit knows that they are loved and not forgotten. [00:02:01] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. I love that. And wear comfortable shoes. Don't be too cute. [00:02:05] Speaker B: Listen, I'm. I'm coming to hang out. I can't be too dressed up. I gotta be coming. I'm coming to hang out. [00:02:12] Speaker A: Listen, I did a video. It was. I don't know when this video was shot. I can't remember, but you were doing, like, the little Russian kick. [00:02:24] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:02:26] Speaker A: And I paired it with me rubbing my knees after Hallelujah for Heat. But we're so excited, and I know how it's gonna feel because, you know, I'm a little older than I was last time. [00:02:42] Speaker B: So it's all good. But you alive and I can't wait to see you and hug you and just tell you how much I appreciate all that you are to us and all that you have been through the years to speak to our hearts on a daily. As often as you get beyond that mic, you're always inspiring us and encouraging us. So we thank and celebrate as well. [00:03:03] Speaker A: Thank you so much. Ricky, again is for Hallelujah for Heat which will be Saturday, October 24th. It's free general admission, but you do have to get a ticket at Eventbrite so we'll get all of that up on the website. And Ricky, what's coming up for you? I know you always recording music, but what's going on right now? [00:03:25] Speaker B: Well, right now we're just in the process of on a campaign for. For your consideration of the album that we dropped in Febr with Ron Carter and Ricky Dillard. Album of Hymns, a collaboration of jazz and gospel together. And it's a powerful record that we're pushing out here and we want all your listeners to go and get it downloaded. Wherever you get music is called Sweet Sweet Spirit. [00:03:49] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:03:50] Speaker B: And it's just hymns. It's hymns of. Of old that we have reimagined and rearranged and. And put together with Mr. Carter. [00:04:01] Speaker A: Yes. [00:04:02] Speaker B: His mother who was from Detroit and he from Detroit, he loved all these songs and he decided to put a record together to honor her as well as to celebrate her life. She has long gone on to be with the Lord but the vision and dream of the record is still present and we dropped it in February and we're excited. There are a few videos out there on three of the songs so far and we got more songs to drop on video. So we're really excited about this. [00:04:31] Speaker A: It is a great project and I love both, of course, gospel, but jazz is my second best. So you know, know I love hip hop too. [00:04:39] Speaker B: But we love all music. You know, music is universal and it's. We don't just gotta listen to the church music and gospel music. Music just inspires. It doesn't matter where it comes from and it can speak to different people's lives and where they are. So we're grateful for music period. [00:04:56] Speaker A: For sure. Well, Ricky, I'm looking forward to seeing you and Lisa Paige Brooks, she will be there as well. And we're just gonna have a good time. [00:05:06] Speaker B: Yes, we will, we will. We'll have a grand time. So thank you. So much for having me on the show today. And I look forward to seeing you soon. [00:05:14] Speaker A: Can't wait. Thanks.
