[00:00:00] Speaker A: I am so excited because this man will be at the Motor City All White Gospel Fest. Molly, music. How are you?
[00:00:08] Speaker B: Brandy, what's going on? Detroit Stand up.
[00:00:13] Speaker A: That is right.
August 9th is gonna be so amazing. It's gonna be at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater. You're gonna be there, and so many other great artists.
How did this come about for you?
[00:00:27] Speaker B: Wow.
Something I'm very excited about.
There was City Winery tour and a whole lot of things that we've been doing, and the community remnant and the fan base has been showing up on an incredible level.
But once I got the call from Lady Joy, there was an email that she sent with her whole vision written out and every paragraph just. It just blessed me. It wasn't just something she was trying to do for an event or impress people. She. She had a heart for the city, and not only for the city, but the spirit of the city. So she. I love that she took both dates. The First Night, the eighth being R& B and soul and rap and all of the music that we listened to. But she did not skip the fact that she wanted the same people to be blessed by the spirit of God in a real way on that Sunday.
[00:01:17] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:01:17] Speaker B: When she did that, that charged me.
[00:01:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:01:20] Speaker B: Charged me to pray, charged me to fast, charged me to call some friends. I called Jonathan. Jonathan McReynolds said he'll pop out.
Donna Lawrence came through.
A lot of people that. Leandria.
[00:01:32] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:01:32] Speaker B: You know, we kind of just kind of teamed up on the vision of what Joy was trying to bring spiritually to Detroit, because there's some things that she feels needs to be touched, addressed, and only Jesus can heal.
[00:01:43] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. That is so exciting to hear that. Well, you got some things going on. I know, because I follow you on social media. And what now?
What's a good song for us to listen to this afternoon for this interview?
[00:01:59] Speaker B: Oh, it's gonna have to be.
I was going to say beautiful, but it's gonna have to be, I believe, from the second coming.
[00:02:09] Speaker A: Oh, I love that song. Just Got Chills.
[00:02:14] Speaker B: I wrote that was one of the first songs that I wrote. That's how I got my record deal.
Like, out of all of the songs, like, on a mainstream record deal, they like, man, this man, you wrote this song. We want it.
[00:02:25] Speaker A: Oh, I love that.
[00:02:27] Speaker B: And all these years later, it's still relevant. And I was 15 when I wrote that song.
[00:02:32] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh.
[00:02:36] Speaker B: Thinking about the world, looking at the nation.
[00:02:39] Speaker A: Molly music on the Detroit Praise Network. I believe. And I love this Song for another personal reason. I was going through a lot of stuff a few years back, and I would put my earbuds in and walk my dogs through that whole project.
[00:02:56] Speaker B: Man. The second Coming. All the way through.
[00:02:58] Speaker A: All the way through. All the way through. It was just so healing.
[00:03:02] Speaker B: God got a hold on. Yes. It's something that. That we need. And what's crazy is God has been using it since then to preserve us for times such as this.
[00:03:10] Speaker A: Oh, sure.
[00:03:11] Speaker B: Isn't that great?
[00:03:12] Speaker A: That's sure, sure. You know, it was funny because we were talking about beautiful just before we played this and that song I heard in the middle of CVS one time. I'm like, my brother.
[00:03:27] Speaker B: That's the favor of God. That's something that is just unmerited. You never know who's God using or whose heart God is using to just put the message forward.
[00:03:36] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:37] Speaker B: And it's resonating even again. And we. I'm definitely going to be dropping that one and a lot more from the second coming.
[00:03:43] Speaker A: That is so cool.
[00:03:44] Speaker B: Joy was making sure that we go back. She was like, molly, I know you got a lot of new stuff and probably amazing, but please sing this. Please sing this, please sing this. And I'm like, I get it. She just need us to gold back.
[00:03:57] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. It's gonna be great again. It's gonna be at the Aretha Franklin amphitheater on Sunday, August 9, the Motor City All White Gospel Fest. Molly's gonna be there.
Absolutely. We gonna be gorgeous. Jonathan Leandria, Kirk Carr, Donald Lawrence. And we have so many great artists from right here in the Motor City as well. I do love your Chicago connection going on.
[00:04:25] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. It's needed. It's a bridge, and it's something about the music that, you know, when you get to Detroit musicians and Chicago musicians, it's already all good.
[00:04:33] Speaker A: Absolutely. Thank you so much for taking out some time with me.
[00:04:37] Speaker B: This was a pleasure, and I can't wait to link with you when I get into the city. Okay.
[00:04:40] Speaker A: Yes. I'm hosting it, so I will see you.
[00:04:43] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Okay, then. This is a big deal for us. We got work to do.
[00:04:47] Speaker A: Absolutely.
