[00:00:00] Speaker A: I am on the phone with someone I haven't talked to in so very long. Javen, what is going on?
[00:00:08] Speaker B: Randy, it is such a blessing to hear your voice again. I'm so glad to be back with you.
[00:00:13] Speaker A: I'm so glad that you're doing some music again. You've been so busy pastoring in Florida, and I watch you on social media. I hear the stories and the testimonies. How is that for you before we get to the music?
[00:00:28] Speaker B: I know, man. It's been over a decade, to be honest with you, and it's a lot. Let me say it this way. If God didn't call you to pastor, please do not take yourself talking about you pastoring. Nobody in church that said God's grace has been sufficient. It's been phenomenal. We just opened our second location now church in Hollandale, Florida, as well as Davy, Florida. And so it's just been incredible.
[00:00:52] Speaker A: I love that for you. You know, sometimes you see things on a person's spirit. They're doing their music and whatever, whatever. I've often said that I know that certain people would be a pastor as well, but I didn't pick you. What happened? How did I miss that?
[00:01:10] Speaker B: I love that you listen. I love that. Because when people say that, especially now, we're 13 years in. Yeah, but especially now, people don't, you know, they don't know me pastoring. And I tell them, man, I would have never thought in a thousand years. But, you know, my father was a bishop for many years throughout the state of. He built many churches in the state of Florida. I was living in Los Angeles, California, doing movies, doing tv, you know, this, doing music, acting, all kind of stuff. And God said to me, it is time for your purpose of your life and it's time to go back home. Oh, and finish what your dad started.
[00:01:44] Speaker A: Wow.
And you've been in a lot of films and things like that.
So how do you feel the differences or maybe even a connection?
[00:01:55] Speaker B: What's funny about it, Randy, to be honest with you, is, and I think this will bless somebody that's listening to the show today.
When you start walking in divine purpose in some unexplained way, it feels natural.
It feels weird until you do it. But then when you start walking in it, you find yourself flowing in a godly, natural flow of being able to help people, shepherd people, pray with people, prophesy over people, preach the word. It all starts flowing. You go, where did that come from? And you start realizing, Jeremiah 29:11. You start realizing. Realizing that it's the expected work that God had already placed in you from the foundation. You just never tapped into it. But once you tap into it, that thing starts flowing and you realize it is just as palpable as everything else you've been doing.
[00:02:44] Speaker A: Well, you have tapped in it, my brother. I hear it all over you.
I am so excited because you have new music and it's just time. And when I heard the single, I'm like, this is so javen. But it's also a little different for you. It's called no Turning Back. Back. Tell me about it.
[00:03:03] Speaker B: Yeah, you're absolutely right. It's the Daven 2.0.
[00:03:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:08] Speaker B: We come back with a sound and with a message that really speaks to today's generation. You know, I had went through a series of tremendous loss with the church. I lost. My brother was my associate pastor. He on his way to work. At 58 years old, heart just stopped. Passed away suddenly. Prior to that, we lost our, our building because of a legal situation with the landlord. And then right after he passed, my executive pastor, who was only 42 years old, started having a pain in his stomach and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, stage four. And he died four months after that. My brother in law died before him. And it just went boom, boom, boom, boom. And I found myself really, really searching for where do you turn? Who do you look to? And it was almost like walking into 2026. God said, this is a year of freedom. This is the year of div.
And I found an overflow, Randy, of what I hadn't experienced in over a decade. And that was a desire to sing again, a desire to write music again, a desire to be in the studio. A lot of people don't understand that these songs be like three minutes. But it doesn't take three minutes to do these songs. So you have to go in the studio and you can't go in. And you know this. You can't even go in the studio if you're not even in the right mindset. I mean, you're not gonna touch across the phobia. All that stuff starts aga studios are hot inside confined space. And I don't believe in ever singing and getting behind a mic. If you ain't got nothing to say right boy. God gave me something in this song God gave me something in this song Talking about no turning back Talking about I've decided to follow Jesus. You have to make a decision.
And I got together with powerhouse producer DLO David Outing man. And I was walking on the treadmill And I heard the download and I thought about that old song we used to sing. I have decided to fuck Jesus.
Yes. And from that came the melody, and from that came the vision. From that came the lyrics. I sung the whole thing to him in a voice message, sent it to him. I said, man, I'm telling you, as soon as he got it, he hit me back, said, man, this is a hit. And he got to work.
And I can't take it. Take it away from me.
[00:05:22] Speaker A: That is Pastor Ja Van no Turning back on the Detroit Praise Network.
[00:05:28] Speaker B: Let's go. Let's go.
I love it.
[00:05:32] Speaker A: I went through a period of time over the last three years, really, but last year in particular, that I am totally and completely at peace with things that have happened.
And I had to remove myself. So I understand what you're talking about. Not the desire to do this and the desire to do that. I had to totally remove myself from the situation that I was in. And then God started to open these doors that I just didn't even know existed. So this is such a powerful time for such as this, you know, this song.
[00:06:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:08] Speaker A: So I am so excited for you. And you have a project that's coming out.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: Yes. So the project is entitled God is Good and I'm really, really excited about it because it really has songs like the one you just played, no Turning Back. One of the first songs I wrote was a ballad called God Is Good. Good. You know, it's really important to understand the goodness of God when things are looking so bad. And Gerald Haddon is one of the producers on the album. Dietrich Patton, by the way, produced the vocals on no Turning Back.
[00:06:38] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:06:39] Speaker B: And me and Dietrich do a song that we wrote together that, that he's featured on with me and the Voices of Lee, which is a eight part harmony acapella choir group that's going to be featured on a song called Peace that I did and just so many other surprises, man. This is a project that really represents when you have come back and when you've been tried to the fire, like what you're talking about the season you almost call like a job season, if you will. God giving you double for what you've gone through. That I always tell people now, man, if you go through hell, come out with something.
[00:07:10] Speaker A: Oh yeah, that's right.
[00:07:11] Speaker B: The fire don't come out with nothing, man. And that's what this project represents. Coming out with fire, coming out with worship, coming out with songs that testify to what people have gone through and what they are facing and how they're going to be victorious in spite of amen and amen.
[00:07:27] Speaker A: Listen, let everybody know how they can get the single and also how to follow you so when the whole project is out, we'll all know together.
[00:07:37] Speaker B: Please, please, y', all, I would love your support.
