[00:00:00] Speaker A: I am so excited to have two of my favorite people. It's just like family to me. Dorinda Clarkhold. Nikki, what is going on?
[00:00:11] Speaker B: Brandi?
[00:00:14] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh.
[00:00:15] Speaker B: You want to start?
[00:00:16] Speaker C: Yes. Well, I can start. Okay. I can start. Well, it's been a blessing.
We have come so far with new visions, with opening up our grace houses, which are adult daycare center.
This was something that was a passion for me and my mom joined on in wanting to make this a known thing.
And what the community needs is people that can give back. And that's what we're trying to do. We want to give back. We know how it is with caregivers. We know how it is with wanting to have trust with other people taking care of your loved ones. So this was a. That my mom and I wanted to get going and we just want to just be a.
A beacon light to you all that, you know, would need the help and need the assistance.
[00:01:08] Speaker A: Yeah, this. We're spreading the word because you guys opened when?
[00:01:14] Speaker B: May 24th of 2024.
[00:01:18] Speaker A: Yes.
So. Okay. So. And I remember the ribbon cutting and all that kind of stuff. And it is just upscale care for your parents, for your grandparents to be able to go during the day while you're working, maybe even for respite for you.
[00:01:37] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:01:38] Speaker A: Because being a caregiver is challenges, really challenges. And then finding qualified people to help you at home.
Because if they're still walking and talking and doing things on their own, they still need the care. Absolutely. And what I found, and I was telling you all, you got a testimony. I do.
By the time my parents were where they could not do for themselves, we hired some home healthcare workers and I just.
They were home care people. They weren't health anything.
[00:02:16] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:02:17] Speaker A: To me, it was a few of them. We have a few of them that were amazing. But I fired so many of them.
[00:02:24] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:02:25] Speaker A: Fired so many of them. Because they didn't have the passion and compassion that you all do at your facility. So tell me what they can expect your parents or your grandparents or even your great, great grandma.
[00:02:41] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:02:42] Speaker A: What can they expect there?
[00:02:44] Speaker B: Well, our. Our motto is aging with dignity, living with purpose. And I think it's so important to have a place where. Where your loved ones can be safe. Let's just say that. Safe just period. Because you've got a lot of people that really. I think Nikki said it so well. Just want the money, but don't have the compassion. So what we have, we have. I specialize in music, so music therapy is one of the things That. I know. I know for sure that it really kind of recalls back their memory, and it lets them.
[00:03:22] Speaker A: It never goes away. That music never goes away.
[00:03:25] Speaker B: And that's so, so incredible because music is a universal language. But in the same token, when you have your. Your loved ones, they've been in church all their lives. It's like. Their life.
[00:03:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:38] Speaker B: You know, and so when you put them in that atmosphere and then everybody else is around them. I could start a song off and they can finish it.
[00:03:46] Speaker A: Absolutely.
[00:03:47] Speaker B: You know, have you tried Jesus? And they say, he's all right, you know, so those are the kind of things that really. We see that. That cognitive stimulation happens. We know that for sure. And that's for people that probably never went to church, you know, and then they join in. So we see that recollection. Recollection coming, and it's so. It's so amazing to see that. Not only that, but just having the exercise, the games that we have. We have Word search, they have iPad.
[00:04:19] Speaker C: IPads.
[00:04:20] Speaker B: Cell phones. Yeah. To kind of keep them, you know, motivated.
[00:04:23] Speaker C: A lot of seniors, they still be having cell phones, so we try to just implement on. Just keeping them familiar instead of having
[00:04:30] Speaker A: them just sitting by a chair.
[00:04:31] Speaker C: Yes. Sitting at the house all day.
[00:04:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
I love that. I remember playing music for my mom all the time. And even when she was in church and she was starting to show signs of Alzheimer's, they would start singing, and she would immediately stand up and start praising God and singing. It's just there. It never leaves.
And I'm amazed by that. My dad pat his feet the whole time. Grumbly voice, singing stuff.
It's so important. It's so important to keep them stimulated in a way where by the time they leave, they're tired, you can fix dinner, and then everybody goes to bed.
[00:05:14] Speaker C: We get that a lot. We get that a lot. There'll be some loved ones, caregivers. They'd be like, what y' all done did to my mom, what y' all did to my father.
They were wore out. I'm like, look, we work.
[00:05:24] Speaker B: We work.
[00:05:25] Speaker C: We try to keep them active.
[00:05:27] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:05:27] Speaker C: You know, because, you know, sitting at home, it's only so much, you know, you can do. And then at that moment, it's like, you look at it like, I.
I want to get my people out. But then sometimes they're scared. You know, just how with kids, you know, you're taking your child to a daycare.
[00:05:45] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:05:45] Speaker C: You're scared, you're nervous, you're calling all day. But we don't get that at our at grade.
They know they're comfortable. They know they're in safe, clean environment, you know, so we want to make that. That's what our motto is.
[00:05:59] Speaker A: Well, I've passed it by a few times, you know, in and around the area.
It's called the Grace House. It's an adult daycare center. And if you have a parent or grandparent, aunt or uncle.
How do they find out more information?
[00:06:18] Speaker B: Yeah, they can go to the website. The website is the gracehousecenter.com they can get the information there. They can. We're on Instagram, the Grace House Center, Facebook, the Grace House center. And then they can call that number, 248-996-9134.
They can get more information and then just book a tour and they can come and they can see what the facility is like. And I always say, if you're interested, bring your loved one with you.
[00:06:47] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:06:47] Speaker B: So they can kind of get a feel what it's out. When they see older people, like their range and their age, they can kind of say, oh, okay, let me see what this is like, you know, so it's, it's, it's something I know that the caretakers need.
They need this outlet. They need. You know, I went to Mount Zion, I preached at Mount Zion. And when I was there, I said, how many of you in here are caretakers? To see the hands that were up? And I was like, oh my God. So this is the perfect place.
You need a break.
[00:07:19] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:07:20] Speaker B: You got to have an outlet. Because if you don't, all of this just pile up on you. Before you know it, you'd be like, oh my goodness, what, what am I
[00:07:28] Speaker A: going to do after the arrows?
[00:07:30] Speaker C: God.
[00:07:30] Speaker A: And my therapist.
[00:07:31] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
[00:07:33] Speaker A: It got that tough.
[00:07:36] Speaker B: Yeah. So we're open from 9 to 5.
They can come in at 9 o'. Clock. We'd usually do breakfast for them. Lunch. We have nutrition, nutritional meals for them so that they, you know, they. Because they don't eat that much, you know, that's the good part.
You gotta run a grocery bill.
But you know, you give them something that'll last for them for the rest of the day. Then at the end of the day, we do music probably around about 3 o'. Clock. And then because they're really excited, then they'd be like, okay, what time is right? What time is my person coming?
[00:08:11] Speaker A: Right, right. They know.
[00:08:12] Speaker B: Yeah. So it's an exciting time for them. We have transportation.
Yeah. So we can come and pick them up. It's a 20 mile radius.
[00:08:21] Speaker C: Mile radius, yeah.
[00:08:23] Speaker B: So we can do that as well.
[00:08:24] Speaker A: Oh, Nikki, I'm so happy thank has come to be for you. And for you as well, Dorinda. And I'm excited to see you. It's been a minute.
[00:08:38] Speaker B: Yes, yes.
[00:08:39] Speaker A: It's just like having my daughter in here too.
[00:08:42] Speaker B: Yes, absolutely. Absolutely.
[00:08:44] Speaker C: Eyes grown now.
[00:08:45] Speaker A: Eyes grown. Really grown.
[00:08:48] Speaker B: Really grown.
[00:08:49] Speaker A: I'm thrilled about the Clark sisters too.
[00:08:52] Speaker C: Come on.
[00:08:53] Speaker A: With a Vegas residency.
[00:08:55] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:08:56] Speaker B: Man, we was so excited about that. Well, first of all, when it was presented to us, we cried because we was like, okay, God, what else are you about to do?
[00:09:05] Speaker A: You did so much going on.
[00:09:06] Speaker B: Yes. We had the Grammys merit award.
[00:09:09] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:09] Speaker B: That was very monumental. And then we, you know, just keep on going. They say we're getting ready to get the star. The Hollywood star. Yes. 20, 27. So we really.
[00:09:20] Speaker A: I want to go.
[00:09:22] Speaker B: And then this happens. I was like, lord, what else is. Please, Lord, don't let heaven be right here now. We don't. We don't want to get to heaven right now.
[00:09:30] Speaker A: Right, right. But this is.
[00:09:32] Speaker B: This is.
[00:09:32] Speaker A: This is getting close as it is in heaven.
[00:09:35] Speaker B: In heaven. Yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. So we are really excited about it.
Of course, we presented. They presented it in aim so to see all of the people that support us. They were so excited about it. So the tickets are going to be going on sale real soon.
So those of you all plan to go to Las Vegas, get a break. You need a break from your parents. No, I'm just kidding.
[00:09:59] Speaker A: Yes, Yes, I need a break period.
[00:10:03] Speaker B: Come on and hang with us. But it's October 9th, the 19th, the 8th, 9th and 11th. Okay, so. And then we have some other dates coming. Yeah, okay.
[00:10:13] Speaker A: Yeah, I love that. I can't wait to get the details for that. You can come back and let me know.
[00:10:18] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:10:19] Speaker A: You know, I got you. Well, thank you so much, Dorinda. Tell all my sisters I say hello. Nikki, I love you so much and thank you for stopping by.
[00:10:30] Speaker C: Thank you.
[00:10:30] Speaker B: Love you. Thank you.
