Show Notes

I first met Micah Lee at a Stellar Award Artist Showcase in Las Vegas. Despite being an amazing singer, I also noticed his positive attitude and confident demeaner. What I didn’t know then, Micah was in tremendous pain due to a horrible car accident in 2005. Later, I would find out that he was told he would never walk again. Which you can clearly see… is not true. [00:00:00] Speaker A: I am on the phone with Micah Lee. What is going on? My brother, my friend Randy. [00:00:07] Speaker B: What's up? So the first thing, Randy, thank you for having me, but I'm trying to put my professional hat on because this is so hard when you do these interviews with your friends. [00:00:18] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:00:18] Speaker B: So I'll be trying to be real serious. Thank you so much, Ms. Miles, for having me. I'm so grateful. Thank you. [00:00:24] Speaker A: And you can be at home with me. And you know that I have been following your career for some time now. And. And whenever we get a chance to talk to each other or see each other, it's just all love. And I appreciate that. [00:00:38] Speaker B: And I appreciate that, too. I appreciate you and the real relationship. And I'm just so grateful. I'm so grateful for what you do for radio. You are. I say people like you, Randy. You guys are rock stars. You are like. You're like my people talk about Michael Jackson. I'm saying, Randy Miles. You know what I mean? So, you know, thank you so much. [00:01:01] Speaker A: I appreciate that. [00:01:02] Speaker B: Yes, ma'am. You are an absolute legend. And thank you. So I'm appreciative simply of your friendship, too. Thank you. [00:01:08] Speaker A: Absolutely. Thank you. Well, I am so excited about this song. Clap My Way has taken Detroit by storm. [00:01:17] Speaker B: Ah, come on. [00:01:18] Speaker A: You know, it started growing legs on me. This is a theme song for people. [00:01:24] Speaker B: Mm. Mm. It is one of those songs that, like you said, it grew legs, as in everybody knows. First thing is Shout out to Uncle Freddie. It's produced by Darkchild. So it is, you know, it's going to be a great beat on the song for sure. What it's one of those ones is when you really catch hold to what those lyrics are, that scene really begins to dig deep. And you'll find yourself in those lyrics because it is honestly my true story. Because where Clap My Way actually came from, it came from two places you already know. I was in a car accident where I had to learn to walk again. I was in a wheelchair. But after I got out of that wheelchair, I was a walker. [00:02:03] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:03] Speaker B: And every step felt like I was going five miles. It was tough. [00:02:08] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:08] Speaker B: And so what I would do is I would quote scripture to myself. I would say, you know, no weapon that's formed against me shall prosper. I would say, they that wait upon the Lord. He shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not get weary. They shall walk and not fake. Randy, you know, I'm a preacher, so, yeah, you gotta stop me there. But that thing it felt like every day I got just a little bit more power. And so that's what this song is. It's more than just a dope beat and some you can groove to. It actually is a biblical blueprint. Map, Bible map on how you can get through any impossible and rough situation. Yeah, that's really what the song is. It's also derived from a little sadder place. I recently lost my father. [00:02:51] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:52] Speaker B: To stage four prostate cancer. He battled with that thing for 18 long years. And I watched him. Yeah, I watched him go through multiple rounds of chemotherapy. I watched him go through radiation, multiple rounds, experimental treatments, and never once did he ever complain. I say he's from that last group of that old school men's men who just do what they have to do for themselves and their family. And he would make statements like, hey, Michael, we all have bumps in the road, but hey, I got too far to go. And so that's where the lyric comes from my father's story. And although he's no longer with us, my father still is victorious over cancer. He still won because he showed me how you can go through anything with dignity, still have your head held high, and just make it happen. And that is what he did. And so I'm so grateful for him. And so it really makes this song. It's coming from a certain place because I promised him. Even on my. On his deathbed, he told me, he said, micah, don't you stop because of this. You get this song, the number one because for me. And I promised him that I would do it. So, man, I'm not gonna get choked up thinking about it, But I am moved that I realized that this was not just my testimony. There's some hurt people out there going through some stuff, just trying to figure out what they have to do. And so even the word would clap my. Like, what is that coming from when we're saying clap your way past it. We use clapping for many things, right? We use the clapping of our hands for celebration. We also use it, like for. To congratulate as well as we use it to encourage. Because thinking about. Think about it. When your favorite team is playing and they're down by a few points, what do we do? We go to cheering them on, right? Clapping our way to encourage them. Sometimes you gotta clap and encourage yourself, Randy. [00:04:36] Speaker A: Absolutely, absolutely. Let's hear it. Right now, it's Clap My Way with Michael Lee on the Detroit Praise Network. That is Clap My Way. Michael Lee is on the phone with me, and I hear, of course, the Dope beat like you said earlier, but I hear hints of hit him up style. [00:04:58] Speaker B: Ah, really, really well. You know what? That was my jam back in the day and I can see where it was going. I see where it's going with that. You know what I think it is though? Because Blue Cantrell has like this jazzy thing and like my voice naturally has this jazzy thing too. [00:05:14] Speaker A: Absolutely. [00:05:15] Speaker B: I don't even try. So I can see where we can correlate that. I get it, I get it. [00:05:20] Speaker A: We're not supposed to know about that. But yeah. [00:05:25] Speaker B: That was the jam back in the day. I don't know what they talking about exactly. [00:05:31] Speaker A: I absolutely love this song. I absolutely love your testimony. I've watched you have that major surgery where you are actually walking around, you're modeling, you're traveling, you are doing God's work. And it just stands to reason that you did clap your way. [00:05:51] Speaker B: Yeah. I am the poster child in the testimony that with God all things are possible. You know, when the doctor said that it would be one way that I would never be walking again. And it astonishes them. And when you see me now, you'll be like, I can't believe this was somebody who was not able to do the normal, normal things at one point. But I think that's why I'm able to sing the songs and convey the message and really have a clear understanding. Because when I say he's a healer, I mean that because I know it for myself when I say he's a redeemer, you know? I know. [00:06:26] Speaker A: Yes. [00:06:26] Speaker B: And so people are actually able to receive that because when they say God is not still working miracles, that's not true. Yeah, that's not true. Because I'm a prime example of that. Dr. Said no, but look at my life now. And I was able to clap past all of those situations. And we're here. [00:06:42] Speaker A: Absolutely. And still clap. And listen. Tell everybody where they can get the song and how to find you on social media. [00:06:49] Speaker B: Listen, Clap My Way is available everywhere right now. All you got to search is Micah Lee M I C A H, last name Lee. Clap My Way and you will find the song, download it, stream it, it is available right now. And trust me, just be careful when you're driving in your car listening to it because that thing will get down up in. Keep your hands on the wheel at 10 and 2. But if you want to find me, find the really handsome man with a well groomed beard and pretty white teeth by the name of Mica Lee M I C A last name Lee. You can follow me on Facebook, on Instagram. Because, Randy, we gotta live. I'm determined to live and really enjoy this life and love Jesus at the same time. And so that's what we're doing. So follow me on at Micah's Music. [00:07:55] Speaker A: All right, well, Micah, thank you so much as always. And you know I love you. [00:08:00] Speaker B: I love you too. And thank you again for having me. Thank you.
