As explained by Hiram E. Jackson, Publisher of the Michigan Chronicle, The S.W.A.G. Scholarship Awards (Students Wired for Achievement and Greatness) were “specifically created to ensure that more minority students in Detroit who demonstrate leadership in multiple areas, other than grades, have access to scholarships.”
I spoke with LaTrice McClendon, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Relations at TCF Bank about the scholarships and why it is so important to get your high school senior to apply.
For more information and to apply, go to michiganchronicle.com/swagawards ; you have until April 9th 2021.
